At AOA Clinic, we make ADHD care straightforward and accessible. Our GPs provide thorough assessments, practical treatment plans, and ongoing support, working closely with your regular GP to ensure seamless, consistent care.

Assessment Process

  • Appointment 1

    AOA Clinic GP

    20-30 minute appointment to establish medical history & create a care plan.

  • Appointment 2

    AOA Clinic GP

    40 - 60 mins appointment with a family member/childhood friend present.

    This includes a comprehensive DIVA test & referral to the AOA psychiatrist.

  • Appointment 3

    AOA Clinic Psychiatrist

    45 - 60 mins appointment to confirm diagnosis, update care plan & begin treatment.

Assessment Fees

All practitioners at AOA Clinic are independent and their fees may differ. An indication of the fee structure can be found below. 

  • The assessment process is 3 appointments.

  • The second GP appointment requires you to bring along someone who knew you when you were in primary school. This is usually a parent/sibling or family member. This is required.

  • All appointments are done via telehealth, and can be a three way video call if needed.

  • If you are diagnosed with ADHD and medication is recommended, there are two options for treatment which are outlined below.

  • A 20-30 min appointment to establish medical history & create a care plan.

    $154.42

  • A 40-60 min appointment with a family member/childhood friend present. This includes a comphrehensive DIVA test & referral to the AOA psychiatrist.

    $462.84

  • A 45-60 min appointment to confirm diagnosis, update care plan & begin treatment.

    $988.00

    (Medicare rebate of $455.60 if eligible for Item 291)

Treatment Options

  • Your local GP can take over your ADHD medication management if they are willing and eligible to prescribe.

    What happens:

    • Discharge to your GP after your assessment.

    • Psychiatrist summary letter sent to your GP within 14 days outlining diagnosis and recommendations.

    • Your GP applies for the required permit to prescribe ADHD medication.

    • Once approved, your GP provides prescriptions and adjusts the dose as needed (if comfortable).

    If your GP is unable or unwilling to prescribe:
    You can choose to access care through AOA Clinic under Option B.

    ***No prescription can be issued through this pathway.

  • If your GP cannot prescribe or want you to be stable on the medication before taking over care, an AOA Clinic GP can manage your medication.

    What happens:

    • AOA Clinic Psychiatrist initiates medication

    • Follow-up appointments with an AOA Clinic GP experienced in ADHD.

    • AOA Clinic GP applies for the prescribing permit on your behalf.

    • Prescriptions provided once the permit is approved.

    • Ongoing review appointments to find the ideal dose.

      • Cost per review: $236.68

    • If additional support is needed, a case conference with the psychiatrist may be arranged.

      • Cost: $446.70

      • Medicare rebate: $200.60

    Transferring back to your GP:
    You can move your care to your local GP once your medication is stable, following a case conference with the psychiatrist.
